Located in the former Royal Docks only 6 miles from central London this airport handles turboprop and jet aircraft up to BAe 146 size on scheduled routes to business destinations in Europe. In recent years there has been an increase in movements by biz jets. Busiest periods are weekday mornings and evenings and Sunday evenings, the airport is closed on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
Official Spotting Locations
Outside Terminal Building
Outside the terminal building there are some seats facing the runway over the water, this area is mainly used by airport staff on a smoking break or passengers in need of a pre flight cigarette. From here only the eastern half of the runway can be seen.

North side of Royal Albert Dock

Jet Centre Gates
Walking anti clockwise from Royal Albert dock to the terminal building you will pass the Jet Centre. Sometimes a photo or two is possible depending on how the biz jets are parked, there are no problems logging.
Eastern end of Car Park
From the eastern end of the car park there are views over King George V dock of the runway 28 holding point and turning loop.
