Incheon International Airport is the largest airport in South Korea in terms of passenger numbers, serving over 30 million passengers annually. It is the primary gateway to the country, and serves as a hub for two major airlines, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. Opened in 2001, it is one of the newest major airports in the world, and replaced Gimpo International Airport as the main gateway to Seoul, the capital and largest city in the country.

Spotting Locations

Observation Deck Parking Lot

The official observation deck has been closed to the public, but its parking lot is still accessible. From the departures level (3) at the airport terminal, go to stop 3, 7 or 12 and take bus no. 306 bound for Ulwangri Beach, and get off the stop previous to "Yongyu Elementary School". You should be exiting the bus as soon as it turns left onto another road, with a SK gas station to your left, and a glassy, blue building to your right that's housing a convenience store at the bottom, and a pool (billiards) hall on the top floor. From there, backtrack and go South until the road splits in two. Go right, and follow the road uphill until you reach the observation deck area. There should be signs leading to the observation deck. Take pictures from the parking lot, as the building itself has closed, thus being inaccessible to the public.

Lighting is good from around noon until the evening. Telephoto lens strongly recommended. You can probably get an acceptable shot of an A340-600, 747 or 777-300 with 200mm zoom.
